The SEAFDEC in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) implemented the Project “Gender Dimension in the Value Chain of Small-scale Fisheries and Aquaculture in Southeast Asia” from January 2020 to June 2022. One of the project activities is conducting Regional Workshop on Gender Dimension in the Value Chain of Small-scale Fisheries and Aquaculture in Southeast Asia to disseminate the result of the project to SEAFDEC Member Countries for promoting gender integration in small scale fisheries. Hence the virtual workshop was organized on 30 May 2022. There were 72 participants (48 females and 24 males) from SEAFDEC Member Countries namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam through SEAFDEC Department and other organizations such as FAO, USAID/SUFIA, Fisheries refugia project attended in this workshop. The project results follow: 1) the report Gender Dimension in the Value Chain of Small-scale Fisheries and Aquaculture in Southeast Asia (case study 4 countries: Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, and Thailand), 2) an infographic on the daily life of women and men in Small-scale Aquaculture and fisheries, 3) video to promote gender in fisheries, and 4) training modules on gender mainstreaming in fisheries to improve and strengthen the gender dimension in selected small-scale fisheries and aquaculture value chain in Southeast Asia were presented in the workshop.
