SEAFDEC/TD Warm Welcome the USAID CTI Youth Ambassador Program

SEAFDEC Training Department led by Dr. Suttinee Limthammahisorn, Secretary-General and Chief of the Training Department welcomed 36 visitors from the USAID CTI Youth Ambassador Program which participated by youth ambassadors, representatives from CTI-CFF, USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia and USAID SuFiA TS. The role of SEAFDEC was promoted including implementation activities of SEAFDEC/TD on Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM), gender equality and social inclusion, technology in fisheries, and youth involvement in fisheries. In addition to learning about SEAFDEC work, the visitors had the opportunity to visit SEAFDEC/TD facilities as a fishing workshop and the M.V. SEAFDEC research vessel.
 
The Coral Triangle Youth Ambassador Program (YAP), a program designed for youth and young professionals, and co-organized by the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) and USAID Sustainable Fish in Asia Technical Support (SuFiA TS) Activity. The YAP is envisioned as an important opportunity to leverage and amplify regional efforts to enhance marine biodiversity conservation, promote (sea)food security, and advance the sustainable management of fisheries resources. Through the YAP amplify youth voices and increase their roles in sustainable fisheries management, including marine conservation, and in combating Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing.
