ปูแสม (Mangrove Crab) อาศัยอยู่บริเวณป่าชายเลน เช่น แสม โกงกาง หรือบริเวณปากแม่น้ำ  ช่วงกลางวันส่วนใหญ่จะอาศัยอยู่ในรู และออกหากินในเวลากลางคืน ปูแสมกินใบไม้ทั้งสดและที่ล่วงลงพื้น ตลอดจนซากพืชซากสัตว์ที่ตายแล้วเป็นอาหาร ปูแสมนับเป็นสัตว์ที่มีประโยชน์ต่อระบบนิเวศในระดับห่วงโซ่อาหารอย่างมาก รวมทั้งปูแสมยังเป็นอาหารของมนุษย์ด้วย ธนาคารปูแสม หมายถึง การนำแม่ปูแสมที่มีไข่แก่ติดหน้าท้องมาปล่อยไว้ในพื้นที่เขตจำเพาะ แม่ปูแสมหนึ่งตัวจะผลิตไข่จำนวนประมาณ 9,000-55,000 ฟอง ขึ้นอยู่กับขนาดและความสมบูรณ์ของแม่พันธุ์ปูแสม ไข่ที่ถูกเขี่ยออกจากแม่ปูก็จะฟักเป็นตัวอ่อน และเติบโตเป็นปูแสมขนาดใหญ่ต่อไป  Read More (PDF file format) View on Facebook
