Blue Swimming Crab (BSC) belong to Portunidae family. The BSC has 5 pairs of legs. First pair is chelae or claws, the second to fourth pairs are walking legs and the fifth pairs are swimming paddles. The carapace is rough in texture, broad and has a spine on each side (Svane and Cheshire, 2005).
เป็นปูทะเลชนิดหนึ่ง อยู่ในสกุล Portunus มีขาทั้งหมด 5 คู่ คู่แรกใช้ป้องกันตัวและจับอาหาร ขาคู่ที่ 2-4 ใช้เป็นขาเดิน ขาคู่สุดท้ายใช้ในการว่ายน้ำ มีกระดองเป็นรอยหยักคล้ายฟันเลื่อยทั้งสองข้าง ขนาดกระดองสามารถโตเต็มที่ได้ราว 15-20 ซ.ม.
