Nine SEAFDEC staff participated in the Second Regional Project Steering Committee Meeting of the BOBLME II project which organized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) from 16 to 18 December 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Meeting participated together Project Steering Committee Members and National Coordinators from Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, as well as national focal points from Malaysia and Indonesia. Additionally, representatives from key organizations, including the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAO RAP), and three executing agencies—the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO), and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) also attended. The meeting highlighted the achievements of 2024 and discussed the workplan and budget for January 2025–June 2026. The list of Marine Managed Area (MMA) and Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) initiatives in each participating country e.g. Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Thailand were presented, and the proposed workplans for the next 1.5 years were presented. Moreover, the proposed activities and budget for January 2025 to June 2026 were endorsed by Regional Project Steering Committee (RPSC).
